Cavel Takes 'Risk' by Mark Bieganski

Mayor Sparrow's statement that he, "doesn't see any difference between slaughtering pigs, cattle, chickens OR HORSES" and Rep. Wirsing's statement that it "Doesn't feel good to slaughter horses, but we are a meat consuming country" makes me wonder what country those two boys have been living in?

The difference Mayor Sparrow is that swine, cattle and poultry are considered 'food animals' in this country, production based and raised for
food and fiber. Horses on the other hand are considered a domesticated animal raised for pleasure and sport and are not eaten.

Have Mayor Sparrows or Rep. Wirsing ever eaten in an American restaurant or bought groceries in an American supermarket before? Why, I ask? Have they never tumbled to the fact that horse meat is never listed on menus nor sold in the meats section?

Do their sentiments also represent their willingness to rescind the state tax revenues generated on all horse sales, feed and related products in
Illinois because horses are considered 'luxury' animals, not food animals? I suspect NOT!

Cultural reality check Mayor Sparrow and Rep. Wirsing....Americans do not slaughter or eat domesticated animals, i.e. pet and companion animals.

It is a cultural thing...and all existing polls to date across the country reflect that Americans want our horses protected against being cruelly
slaughtered for the French and Belgian dinner plates.
